Bairrada, 1960

Abafado (Sweet white wine) - Martins da Costa

This is a beautiful sweet white wine from the Bairrada region. Only 1000 bottles were made and these are drinking perfectly. Made from the must of red grapes, the wine is matured in oak for a minimum of 10 years. This is an amazing sweet wine that can be drunk as an aperitif or with any sweet dessert. This wine is exceptional value and is highly recommended by our wine buyer.

On the nose there are complex aromas of dried apricots, nuts, honey and a suggestion of citrus fruit. Served slightly chilled, this wine has rich mouthfeel, medium sweetness and and an amazing honeyed and citrus, delicate orange peel.

Butler Nephew Vintage Port, 1960

Vintage Port

This historic house was founded in 1829 and had an excellent reputation for producing fine vintage ports until it was acquired and integrated into the Sandeman port house. Chateau Mouton Rothschild , 1960

Pauillac

The 1960 chateau Mouton Rothschild was one of the finest wines of the 1960 Bordeaux vintage. The 1960 Mouton label was designed by Jaques Vallon (a power-house of the Cubist Movement) and depicts movement of birds contrasting with the static geometry of vines. Château Mouton Rothschild's 1960 vintage is also something of an increasing rarity, being crafted before this great Bordeaux château was granted first growth status.

Croft Port, 1960

Vintage Port

"Bright tawny with orange flecks, there are whacks of dried fruit and sultanas on the nose, with hints of bitter chocolate and Christmas pudding. The palate is sweet but balanced with a lovely acidity. A fascinating multilayered wine, with the oxidization bringing out maple syrup flavours, coupled with leather and cigar box aromas wrapped around rich dried fruit. Complex, captivating and holding up beautifully." Decanter, Fine Wine Encounter 2009.

The 1960 has a light russet core with deep tawny rim. A lovely soft, mulberry infused nose with a touch of sloes and coca that could do with a tad more delineation.

Ferreira, 1960

Vintage Port

Burnt sienna in colour, 40% opaque. Nutmeg and vanilla all over the very expressive and tertiary nose. Sweet and balanced entry, with some pepperiness on the palate; big flavours of orange and nutmeg. Terrific balance. A huge aftertaste full of golden sultanas, which leads to a very, very long finish of intense seville marmalade. An extremely impressive bottle. 92 points - For The Love of Port
